WATCH: Outshine star and actress Jada Pinkett Smith shares the story of how she found her way onto the hit sitcom.
“It was my friend who first called me and said, ‘Hey Jada, I saw you on The Big Bang.”
“I was like, ‘Oh my god, that’s so cool!
What did you think about it?’,” Smith told Us Weekly.
“She was like [crying] ‘Oh, my god!’
And I was like ‘What’s wrong?’
And she was like’Oh my God, you’re so handsome!
You’re so gorgeous!
I’ve never seen anyone so handsome and gorgeous like you.'”
The pair met in the acting class at the University of Texas at Austin, where Smith had already been in the works for a few years.
She remembers meeting fellow actors like Josh Charles, who became a friend, and then she was introduced to actor and director Peter Berg.
“I knew I was going to get cast in the show,” Smith said.
“And I was already in it, I was so close to being cast.”
Smith’s first appearance on the show was in Season 2.
The show became a hit for the pair and has become one of the most popular TV shows in the world.
“The Big Bad” was also the first sitcom to use the phrase “outshine” to describe a character.
Smith says she remembers one of her favorite moments on the series, the one where Sheldon Cooper is on a date with his wife and then discovers that he is the “outlasted” one.
“He’s the one who’s always the most outlasted and has been on the most dates,” Smith explained.
“But then Sheldon discovers he’s the outlanked one and is just like, I’m just a little outlifted by him and it’s a big deal.
So, we were just like that all the time.
And I remember being like, What does he mean by that?
Because I had no idea.”
Smith is also currently starring in the upcoming movie “Buckwild.”
She says it was one of those “moments” she “never dreamed I’d be involved with.”
“It’s just so much fun, and I feel so lucky and honored and humbled,” Smith shared.
“That’s the only thing that makes me laugh, is to be able to make people laugh.
It’s a blessing to be on that show and I just hope that people will see it and laugh and go, ‘Wow, she’s on the big screen!'”
